good product but you should switch to stainless steel press (2010-05-21)
This replacement beaker came quickly and fit perfectly in my Bodum Press. I got it because I had already spent the money on this press, but I will never buy another glass press. The stainless steel models are more expensive but worth every penny -- I bought a Frieling 35 oz stainless steel press, and I will cut my losses and throw this Bodum away next time the glass beaker breaks.
Just what we needed (2010-04-28)
We broke the glass on our French press and this was just what we needed. So glad we didn't have to buy a whole new one! Works great.
always keep one on hand (2010-04-18)
I always keep a spare Bodum carafe in the cupboard so I don't have to worry about rushing to find a replacement when the one I'm using gets broken. I've been using this French press for many years and am just now buying my 3rd carafe for the same reason: my husband is not so gentle with dishes when washing them and has broken so many things I've lost count.
Anyway, may I suggest to all who have had frustration over the size of the carafe: keep a spare, in its box, in your cupboard. When you have to replace a broken one, use the size/capacity/model number info from the box to reorder and you'll always have the correct replacement. And you won't go a day without your favorite French pressed coffee!
I don't think the glass is particularly fragile, but it is thin and warrants careful handling just like a wineglass does.
Perfect Replacement (2010-04-03)
I accidentally broke the glass beaker of my old Bodum French Press after many years of use. I was surprised to find that I could replace the beaker for a relatively low price and continue to use the press. The new beaker is made by Bodum and is packaged in a Bodum box. The glass is very slightly thicker than my old beaker, so the new one might last even longer than the old one. I try not to replace things that can be repaired, so I applaud Amazon for making that possible in this case.
bodum replacement carafe (2010-03-11)
I placed an order for this replacement carafe after reading the reviews.As others have mentioned too make sure you order the correct size. The replacement was pretty easy to do and it fits well. Only thing i did not like was that my original beaker had a red Bodum logo in the front which i miss on this one. Also i just saw the other day that the carafe is available at Whole foods market for $20 or $21 which is almost the same price i payed ...So now i do not have to wait for it to be shipped.
