This Bodum coffee press makes excellent coffee. Even better, it is more durable than the old models. You can actually run this through the dishwasher. How can you go wrong?
Nice while it wasn't busted. (2010-04-05)
I bought this press back in August and have used it for both loose leaf tea and coffee. It worked wonderfully, however, if you choose to buy it, you might want to just hand wash it, even though it's dishwasher safe. I've never done anything that should have put the glass under any sort of stress, and I just pulled it out of the dishwasher to find a rather large crack 3/4 of the way around the middle of the glass. I've been so careful with this thing, and this is how it rewards me :[
It should then come as no surprise that on Bodum's site, their first two FAQ questions deal with the replacement of broken glass, which they won't do because "they cannot see how it occurred." So since that gives me the impression this is a problem that doesn't just occur by careless use, I'll be trying to replace this with another brand entirely, as much as I don't want to because I love the colors and style of this line.
Bodum Bean French Press Coffee Maker (2010-01-30)
This coffee maker is an improvement over the previous Bodum French Press that I have. This one keeps the coffee warmer for a longer period of time. It has a special rubber rim in the lid that closes the pot more tightly.
smooth cup (2009-12-28)
I have never used a french press coffee maker before. I was very pleased that this was easy to use and clean. You just put in the coarse ground coffee, add hot (not boiling) water, stir, let sit about 4 min., then slowly lower the press. The coffee it produces is much smoother then from a 'normal' coffee maker. I normally find coffee a little too acidic but this is wonderful. I also usually add sugar and cream but I think this coffee is fantastic black. Be aware that even though it says it makes 8 cups it's more like 2.5 cups. I also add more coffee grinds then it recommends for a stronger cup. My only real complaint is I wish the coffee stayed hot longer. Since you can't use boiling water it seems to get cold faster. I am still delighted with it and recommend it for any coffee lover.
