Bodum Assam 4 Cup Tea Press Black 34 Oz. - Bodum 1844-01GVP
Amazon.com Review
Who knows more about tea than the British? When the British Tea Council asked Bodum to develop a new way of brewing tea, the result was this unique press that's almost as much fun to look at as it is to use. Simply fill the strainer with tea leaves and add boiling water--a slow process, but well worth the time. (You could also use tea bags, but why would you want to?) The clear jug lets you see the tea as it's steeping, allowing you to customize its strength to your taste. When the tea is strong enough, slowly depress the plunger to stop the brewing. You won't have any tea leaves to read at the bottom of your cup, but there's no mess and no need to remove the strainer before you pour. But be forewarned: the Bodum press doesn't retain heat quite as well as a traditional teapot, so you might want to use a tea cozy if you're not drinking the whole pot in one sitting. It's a shame to cover up such a beautiful design, but that's the way the tea leaf tumbles. --Mary Park

Love it! Hear from friends the glass stoppers on other glass pots often break. Since this one is plastic, it's protected from replacement. That's what you want in a product: function w/o the worries. It's a tad on the smallish side but otherwise just right.
The SS infuser works much better (2010-04-24)
This is our third Bodum teapot (press) the first two being broken in moments of carelessness. They are made of glass so are delicate. My wife an I drink a lot of tea, especially first thing each morning. These Bodums beat any of our previous teapots. The only gripe we have wih the 34 oz version we recently bought from Amazon is that it came with a plastic infuser. Our previous Bodum was the larger 6 cup version which did come with the SS infuser, but which is too big to fit the new Bodum. The gripe is that the plastic infuser requires a very slow pour from the kettle as there is a 50:50 split between holes and plastic around the holes, while the SS version is more like a 90:10 split so much less back pressure. Amazon would have to increase their price by probably $15 to replace the plastic infuser with a SS one. I would willingly pay the extra in order for this 4 cup Bodum to come with a SS infuser. We get by with this 4 cupper by (slowly) refilling it after pouring the first 2 cups.Bodum Assam 4-Cup Tea Press Teapot
Great pot, but.... (2010-04-17)
This pot was wonderful. It was nice to look at plus it was clear so I could keep a tight rein on my light teas I tend to drink that brew for only two or three minutes. I also helps a great deal with black teas. If you wash it often then you don't have staining problems. The handle sticks out quite a bit so you never will burn yourself.
The issue I had with this pot is that it broke quickly. It is not a very sturdy pot due to the glass being a bit thin. Also it didn't keep heat in because of the thin glass (but glass pots are prone to rapid heat loss). When/if I replace my pot I will buy a nice round pot again that is made of better glass.
nice teapot (2010-03-04)
Nice teapot, wish the lid wasn't so floppy when you pour. Nice quality, brews lovely tea. Cleans easily and looks great!
Versatile teapot (2010-02-15)
I enjoy having this teapot because loose tea and teabags can be used. The drawbacks are that it does not pour well and the inner strainer stains.
