Replacement Carafes (2010-07-22)
The fact you are reading this means you've also broken at least one. We've been using the Bodum for about 4 years, an average of 4-5 days a week. We manage to break a carafe about every 18-24 months. The deal on Amazon for 3 replacements may seem a bit of an over-buy, but it turns out to be a really good deal. Early morning pre-coffee clumsiness means that I sometimes hit the edge of the counter with the press. Not good for thin glass. Importantly, these carafes are each packaged in their own box, and the group is then boxed with plenty of insulation to arrive safely, even via USPS. They store nicely and are ready the moment you crack or break another one. No more waiting for a week or two for a replacement (and having to spend the extra bucks to have a local barista press a pot for me). If you have alternate means for satisfactory coffee, then buying one at a time may work for you. But for me, having a reserve carafe ready assures my press will be functional at all times. I'd give this 5 stars if I knew it wouldn't break (I know, there's a plastic carafe available, but I just can't get comfortable with a plastic coffee pot. If you go to the trouble of a press - get glass).
